:?: Who is the maker of the Boox 60 eBook reader which is also sold as Bebook Neo ?
Onyx International. They have a Chinese / English website, with a small, mostly Chinese forum.

:?: Is there any difference between the Bebook Neo, the Wolder Boox and the Onyx Boox ?
There is no hardware difference between the devices. The only difference is in the branding of the firmware. Sometimes one of the two brandings of firmware may be released earlier than the other and more bugs will be solved in it. You can find the latest versions of firmware in the Firmware subforum. Check the Announcements at the top! You can switch between firmwares with different branding without problems. Many forum members have done this, including me. Since I could not care much what logo is displayed during boot I usually run the latest firmware, whomever released it first.

:?: Does the Boox 60 use UMS?
Yes. The device will show up correctly in Windows and Linux operating systems. The Onyx Boox internal storage shows up as "Boox" USB medium, the SD card is also auto mounted as a separate device.

:?: Mobipocket is looking for a PID. Where is it?
The Boox 60 does not support DRM'ed mobipocket. Instead, Onyx has a license for the usage of Adobe's DRM solution.

:?: I have bought my Boox 60 clone from another company/country/whatever. Can I install the newest official firmware?
Yes. The firmware is universal for all retailers, countries and rebranded names (Wolder Boox or Bebook Neo).

:?: I can't get the dictionary to work. How do you enable the dictionary function?
Read all about enabling the dictionary function.

:?: I want to update the firmware but I don't know how to. Can you help me?
Follow the Firmware update guide.

:?: My Boox is frozen and will not turn on or off again! Help!
Looks like you might need to to a hard reset.

:?: Changing the Language settings in the menu doesn't do anything.
This was fixed in firmware update 1.2.2

:?: What about the amount of shades of gray? Some sites say it is 8, some say it is 16. Which is it?
Both. Technically the display is able to show 16 shades of gray. At this moment (up to firmware 1.4) the software only supports showing 8 shades of gray which is good enough for reading. In the future support for showing 16 shades of gray will be added to a firmware upgrade, improving the displaying of graphic files at a cost to the battery usage. Probably this will be an user-customisable option. (eg. a button in the settings to switch between 8 and 16 shades)

:?: How can I install a different font?
Put your TTF font in the fonts folder then update the Boox with the firmware you want (probably the latest). Since 1.2.2 fonts can be installed on the fly - no need for reinstalling firmware. Also check the answer by pikoman to this post by smillman.

:?: How can I export annotations / notes?
You can not. Also see this post.

:?: How do you make those fancy screenshots in the help topics on this forum? Can I make them too?
You sure can. Press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons simultaneously. A screenshot will be made and placed in the 'snapshots' directory on your memorystick.

:?: The Boox keeps reconnecting after a disconnect on my MAC.
This is normal behavior for a mac when using portable disks and not the fault of the reader.
This is probably happening because you are using the eject right? On a mac, the eject function is for ejecting only, for example removable media, i.e. CD/DVD etc. To remove the device, do it through the disc utility. Make sure you dismount the device and not eject it. The buttons are right next to eachother.

I actually hate myself for writing English when i mean America :)
I stand corrected - I updated the FAQ with a more realistic sentence  Thanks for your input!

Kib: I have just noticed the statement at the end of the FAQs about disconnecting Boox from a Mac. It is not necessary to use disk Utility to safely eject removable storage or devices. It is recommended practice to either Ctrl-click or right-click on the icon (with a 2-button mouse). This will ensure that the information on the device has been safely put away. I use the practice all the time, with thumb drives, GPS navigator, digital camera and video camera. The Boox is the only device that re-connects itself after ejecting its icon. It is definitely a feature of the Boox, maybe not necessarily a fault; if the plug is not pulled quickly it will re-connect and then give a message "the device was not properly put away."
