AFAIK the "explorer" application could be propietary because it seems is dynamically linked whit QT, but main app reader is based in a customized fbreader version.

At least they MUST publish the source of FBReader modifications

And of course any other modification done to Kernel and other GPL support utilities they are using. However sometimes China companies ignores those requests and it is very difficult to force them to publish the code due China law.

Even when you didn't made any modifications to GPL application you are distributing (inside a device for example) you have to provide the source code. So even if the kernel is not modified providing the source code of it is obligatory.
