I am proud to announce that, six months after the 0.1.1 release, the 0.2.0 release is now available for download.
The full version number is 1.6-0.2.0, indicating that also the Onyx libraries and open source applications have had an update.

New features
Music player
The new music player allows background playback of mp3 and flac files, but since it uses MPD more formats can be added in the future.

This is how the player works:
- Copy your music files to the internal flash or SD card in a folder called 'music'
- Enter the Music category and select one of the scan functions from the menu
- Your music shows up in different views (favorites, artists, albums, etc) based on the metadata that's included in the files
- Add the music of your choice to the playlist (via menu or 'right' key), playback will start and you can continue your reading
- While reading you can control the playback by selecting Music from the menu or by tapping the music icon in the status bar

Reader selection
The update of the Onyx stuff brings CoolReader to OpenBOOX.
Since CoolReader supports quite some formats there has to be a way to select your preferred reader for these different formats.

Selecting a reader is easy:
- Enter the menu and open the 'Select Reader' group
- Select the format that you want to configure and select your preferred reader from the dialog that shows up

Improvements
- Removal of single/all book(s) from database
- Metadata renewal of already available books during rescan
- Comic book support (cb7, cbr, cbz)
- Zipped fb2 support (fb2.zip)
- Application termination by holding the OK button
- NTP time reception in case of Wifi connection

Notes
- The explorer and music player of the official firmware are no longer included. This is because the size of the system partition is limited and the saved space can now be used for new features.
- The database structure changed. If you update from OpenBOOX 0.1.1 then you will loose your explorer customizations and the content of your Books category (i.e. you have to scan your books again).

I would like to hear from you

hello,
you may develop the software to read on the pages attached (OnyxReader)?
http://edu.selfip.net/content/?Onyx_Boox...OnyxReader

would also be useful to have the possibility to load dictionaries with different format from the "dict"

regards
It seems a good work, but I have two questions

"1.6" it means who is based to a standard (available only for polish user Wink) 1.6 version of the firmware?

In this version CoolReader where stores the cache?

Although I haven't tested it, the OnyxReader should work. Julodnik is a "long time" user of the OpenBOOX SDK Smile

Only StarDict support at the moment, no concrete plans to change this.

1.6 means that the standard applications are at the level of the official 1.6 firmware (which is indeed a Polish one), it doesn't mean that it in any way depends on this firmware version. In short, you can update from any official version or previous OpenBOOX version. You also don't have to be afraid of the brand lock that's in the Polish firmware, I haven't included it because I'm not doing this to limit users Wink

The cache is stored on the internal flash (/media/flash/cr3).
Very good job, but I have one question:

Why don't read the metadata when it is changed with CALIBRE?

Can you give a bit more details about the steps you are taking?
Do you change the metadata within a file? Which format?
Or do you create opf files as described in the Wiki?
Sorry, now I read th wiki and all ok.!!Angel
Do you know where I can find a Complete Italian dictionary (*. dict)?

Can you also integrate, into the reading program for the automatic recognition, with stylus?

Can I change all the sub menus in English?
I have the main screen in English ... and the rest in Italian.
also another ask: after this upgrade it's possible (and without any problems) come back to a 1.5.x version? (the russian version, for example)
